FUNDRAISING

Hi there my friends,

My sister is running the Great BUPA Ireland Run on April 15th to raise funds for the Shining Star Primary School in Kenya. You may know that last summer she spent a month as a volunteer in Kenya and spent some time working with the children attending this school and their parents. In this area 23% of the population are infected with HIV. Illnesses like typhoid and malaria are also commonplace.

Large numbers of children turn up to school every day to learn, despite travelling many miles on foot, without breakfast or lunch. This school is so basic, there aren’t enough classrooms or desks; there are few schoolbooks and little stationery. However, it is run by very enthusiastic and passionate staff. She promised that when she returned home she would tell everyone about her time in Kenya and ask them to support the local school.

Please email me or comment here the amount you would like to donate. This money will go directly to the Shining Star school and will be used to provide books and supplies, desks and possibly a new classroom.

I know you guys are generous and therefore would love to donate a few quid ("lana" en espanol) - it means you will not have to attend a tablequiz at a later date :)

If I will not see you to receive this money, please make out a check to Village Volunteers, and post it to me here in Limerick, or email me and I will forward my account details. This means you guys in England, South Africa, Australia, San Francisco and even New Zealand have no excuse. I did have my account details up here but Lola told me its dangerous... Dont want any of those donations going missing! Mis amigos en mexico, entiendo si no pueden, yo, todavia recuerdo los pinche sueldos en mexico!

Thanks guys!
Love el xx
